CHARACTER
Name: Thor Odinson
Series: Marvel Cinematic Universe
Canon: OU
Age: 1050
Timeline: Post-Avengers. WARNING FOR SPOILERS FURTHER ON.
History: Set to be crowned king of Asgard, Thor's coronation was interrupted by Frost

Giants. Due to his brash nature, Thor led an assault on the realm of the Frost Giants, Jotunheim, and challenged their king. Because of putting Asgard on the brink of war, he was banished to Midgard (Earth) and stripped of his powers until he was able to learn his lesson and regain his magical hammer, Mjolnir, and thus his powers. Whilst upon Earth, Thor met three humans, Jane Foster, Erik Selvig, and Darcy Lewis. Striking up strong friendships with them, especially Jane, he was able to learn humility, and despite a failed attempt at reclaiming Mjolnir that broke his spirit, he was able to understand his father banishing him was to teach him the value of being without power, and using his head and not his brawn to handle situations.

However, in Asgard, after being touched by a Jotun (Frost Giant), Thor's downtrodden younger brother, Loki, discovered his true race and parentage, and set out to destroy the entire race he was part of, whilst being crowned King of Asgard whilst their father, Odin, fell into the Odinsleep (a long nap :|) in order to replenish power. Thor's friends, Sif and the Warriors Three, considering Loki's appointment as king as a takeover, headed for Earth to warn Thor and bring him home.

Loki, learning of their betrayal, sent the mech The Destroyer to stop his brother from returning, for fear of opposition in his plan to destroy Jotunheim. During the battles against The Destroyer, Thor was felled, after attempting to apologise for whatever he had done to anger Loki. Because of his sacrifice to protect the mortals, Thor's power was returned to him, and before leaving to go back to Asgard, he shared a kiss and a promise with Jane, to come back for her, because she is the first friend to see him for something other than the God of Thunder.

Returning to Asgard, Thor faced down Loki, finding out some truths his brother finally had the confidence to voice, about feeling like lesser because of Thor's arrogance and how he wished only to be Thor's equal. After battling, Thor was forced to break the Bifrost, the bridge to the other realms, in order to stop the magic of the Bifrost destroying Jotunheim, and thus cutting off Asgard to the other worlds. The resulting explosion left Loki dangling, Thor barely able to hold onto him, with Odin's staff as the bridge between them, and Odin holding Thor by the ankle to keep them both from falling. Loki, however, let go of the staff after being denied validation by Odin.

SPOILERS FOR AVENGERS BELOW
After learning of Loki's appearance upon Earth, and finding out his brother was not dead, Thor
was returned to Earth via Odin's Dark Energy. After trying to reason with his brother, who was now on the warpath and planning to conquer Earth, Thor was interrupted by Iron Man and Captain America. Once that battle was done with, Thor took Loki with him as he joined the Avengers, in order to gain the Tesseract (Cosmic Cube) in order to be able to take Loki home. Instead, Loki's plan to pit the heroes against each other took it's toll and the battles that happened were destructive and distractions for Loki's controlled backup to arrive. When his battle with Hulk was done, Thor headed to his brother in the cage he was held in, only to be fooled into stumbling into the cage himself. Proceeding to watch Loki kill someone important to him (NOT SPOILING THAT), the cage was then evacuated from the Hellicarrier and Thor was sent hurtling to the ground.

Able to break free, Thor suited up for the final battles. Warring against the Chitauri army Loki commanded, Thor was able to find time to face down his brother again, and once more tried reasoning with him, telling him they could stop the war together, and while Loki seemed to be struck with emotion, the younger brother stabbed the older and made an escape. Thor, going back
into the fray of the battle with only a tiny stab wound, was able to fight with his new allies in order to end the battles. Going with them to collect Loki, Thor took his brother home in chains, using the Tesseract to travel.

Personality: Thor, on the surface, is brash, confident and a show off. Quick to witty banter and cheeky comments, Thor is also very much a friend to all. If he finds a reason to like you, he will like you. Despite his arrogance and brashness to begin with, Thor learned much from his banishment on Earth and was swiftly able to reform himself. He knew his downfalls and repaired them, with the help of friends.

Confident enough to some day become King of Asgard, Thor knows well how to appeal to people and
apologise for offending, even when he hasn't. He is willing to set out alone on difficult tasks, if need be, but would rather his friends were at his side, unless it will cause them great harm. Caring and compassionate, Thor has a softer side beneath his power. He cares deeply for those around him, particularly his family and friends. If he can protect them, he will, and refuses to believe that anything will stand in his way to do so, even if it means sacrificing himself. Even so, Thor can sometimes show insecurity, at the most nerve-wracking of times, and will quietly seek the approval of those he trusts most, particularly Loki until their feud began.

Thor highly respects his father, despite how he behaves like a spoiled child before his banishment. Considering him the greatest king Asgard has ever had, Thor finds it difficult to imagine living up to him and makes brash decisions to try to behave as heroically as his father did, even inciting war where there was no need for one. He sees himself as living in his father's shadow and thus behaves in an ostentatious way at times to prove himself, although he has since learned the foolishness of those actions.

Then, of course, there is Loki. Thor always adored his brother and will always consider him such, even despite their troubles. He willingly believes his brother every time he weaves a lie, simply because Loki is his brother and he trusts him. Even after all of their pain and anguish, he grieves for Loki. He is hurt that Loki let go and was lost to them, considering his life to be missing a piece without his family entirely intact, even after knowing his brother's true heritage. Enemy Loki is, but brother he always was and always will be.

Jane Foster and Sif are an entirely different story. Thor entirely respects women and believes that if they can set their mind to things, they can do them equally as well as men can, better in certain cases. He admires Sif's strength and supports her entirely in her role, finding her as his dear, close friend and willing to listen to her advice, unless he is so set into a plan he won't listen to reason whatsoever. Jane is highly important to Thor. While he considers her a great friend and an incredibly intelligent woman, their budding romance was cut short and he was willing to sacrifice it for the good of Asgard and Jotunheim. He knows she is safe, at least, and hopes to see her some day, although occasionally he can be found pining after her, alongside grieving for his brother.

Still poorly versed in the ways of Earth customs particularly not to stand near moving cars,Thor often makes blunders, though he attempts to remedy any situation he makes a faux pas in, even if it's something minute. Or something as dramatic as smashing cups and demanding more coffee. He is, after all, both a warrior and a prince. Both titles are contradictions of themselves and Thor juggles both roles as best as he can.

An intelligent, well studied man, as shown by Thor's knowledge of the structure of the nine realms, the World Tree, Yggadrasil, he is willing to share knowledge and learn from others, as he does with Jane, Darcy and Erik. Thor wishes to be a good king and, despite how he mourns the loss of Loki and Jane, he is able to move forward with the support of Sif, the Warriors Three and his parents, hoping to be able to live up to his name and follow well in his father's footsteps.

Come Avengers, Thor has not changed from how he grew, save for becoming that bit wiser and that bit more determined. Repeatedly, his love and compassion for Loki was shown and his sorrow was moreso evident than anything else. Despite everything, all Thor wants is to take his brother home, and the bonds he builds with the Avengers are not as strong as the brotherhood he still holds important. He is driven, intense, passionate, and protective of his brother despite how Loki is causing so much chaos.

Abilities/Additional Notes: All of Thor's powers are tied to his weapon, Mjolnir. Without those abilities, Thor is still a skilled fighter with his fists and has superhuman strength, speed, stamina and reflexes. He is able to swing Mjolnir, and toss other objects, with incredible force, alluding to his natural physical strength that isn't a power caused by the hammer.

Third-Person Sample: Thor let out a rough breath as he steadied his motions. Hunting was something he always enjoyed as a passtime but this was to survive. He didn't know how he'd ended up in this realm, perhaps the Tesseract had chosen to dump him somewhere unknown and return to Asgard without him, or perhaps it was something else, some magic he knew not, but it was not the best place to be.

He had much on his mind. Odin was weary, Asgard and Midgard were without his protection here, and who knew what mess the other seven realms were in with Asgard cut off from them for so long. Atop that, he worried greatly for Loki. His sanity, his health, a lot of things concerned his brother, and he was certain someone controlled the younger god through his acts upon Midgard, someone was behind this, and that someone would pay, but for now he had to focus on what he could do in this world. That... wasn't much, honestly. In this realm, he felt as if he had no purpose. Nothing but waiting, impatiently, for something to break, for some way to get back to Asgard.

Throwing Mjolnir towards some creature he was hunting, Thor watched it crush the beast's ribs and caught the hammer as it returned to him. He hated that this realm restricted his power, that he could not create a storm at will, though he still managed well enough, and he just had to deal with it for now, though he hardly desired waiting around when his brother's punishment lay hanging in the balance, and Asgard was without it's heir.

First-Person Sample Journal Post: voice

[There is a pause at first, then a strong voice with a strange way of speaking follows, and commands attention without needing to demand it with exact words.]

I would know how I came to be in this realm, this is neither Asgard nor Midgard, nor any world I have seen before. If any have information, it would be greatly welcomed, and the location of the one known as Loki is crucial to me.

[A pause and he sighs.] Brother, if you are within this realm, you will come to me immediately. We have things we must discuss in person. [He isn't sure what else to say, or even if he's being heard by anyone, talking into this contraption, so he finally just ends it there.]
